Sale of Chometz Form 2023

“All Who are Hungry Let Them Enter and Eat”

The Sale of Chometz 2023-5783

There is an ancient Jewish tradition of enabling bread products to remain in your home during Passover, while still honoring the spirit of the season.

It involves the symbolic “selling” of your bread products (Chometz) to a third party.

According to this tradition, a Shtarr (a Jewish legal document) is filled out, authorizing the Rabbi to turn over ownership of your non-Passover items to a non-Jewish person (who does not celebrate Passover). After the holiday, the document becomes null and void, and ownership returns to you.

There is a suggested donation of twenty dollars for this service, and those funds are turned over to feed the needy in our community.

If you have Chometz to sell and wish to participate in this ancient tradition please fill out the attached form. Rabbi Huberman will take care of the rest.
